Group Tasks

Task #1: Where should we relocate?
*Create a spreadsheet in googledocs that compares the planets in our solar system. Your group should decide what factors/attributes to consider in your comparison.
*Create a new spreadsheet or else simply add on to your planet comparison spreadsheet so that it includes 3 moons that are in our solar system.
*Fill in the sheet that compares your "top 3" choices of where humans will relocate and then select the place that your human colony will be built.

Task #2: What do we need to learn or plan for so that our colony will sustain human life?
*Create a word web, task list, or some type of organizer that identifies areas of research and planning that needs to be done in order for your work to move forward. This is a brainstorming sheet that will be added to and modified as you learn more. This document should be revisited on a daily basis to set your list of things to do for the day. Delegate how all the work and research should be completed.

Task #3: Who and how many people will be taken for the trip?
*Which humans will be selected? Explain your ethical decisions.

Task #4: Develop your presentation.
*Googledocs would be the perfect tool for this task. Everyone has access and can work on it from school or home.
*Include all essential details that you have thought about in selecting your location and designing your colony.
*Use the links of the previous page to understand better each occupation: scientist, government official, oceanographer, geneticist, engineer, and physician. Remember, your presentation has to convince all of these people who are on the panel.

Task #5: Build your colony model.
*This can be a virtual model OR 3-D built for display OR diagram on a poster board.
*Model should show all features that are life-sustaining. Be able to explain why you need these features and how they actually work. Be as realistic and scientific as possible.

Task #6: Develop your oral presentation for the "committee".
*Before the panel of experts (scientist, government official, oceanographer, geneticist, engineer, and physician), give a presentation that is convincing for the most viable colony to be built.
*Use all group members.
*Be prepared, use persuasive language in your presentation.

Task #7: Include a bibliography.
*The citations should be done to correct format (MLA).
*This document should be included in your presentation or a hard copy turned in at the time of your presentation.
